20,000 people from various towns in Metro City, Lampung packed the streets, and public places with brooms on their hands.

No, this was not a demonstration, but it was a suggestion by the provincial government on how important it is to live in a clean environment, and to battle dengue epidemic.

Metro City has been awarded to be cleanest city in the Lampung Province, and the government ensure, it will get even cleaner. Such mass cleaning was also attempted by the city of Jambi which involved 1.000 people.

If only Jakartans would bother to do such thing.

Living in a city where flash flood ravages, mainly due to improper greenbelts, and rubbish, they should really follow up to Indonesia’s smaller-growing cities.

On a related note, today, some parts of Jakarta looked unfamiliarly comfortable.

Hari Bebas Kendaraan, or Car Free Day, is again, implemented in Jakarta City. The Sudirman-Thamrin streets of Central Jakarta was seen to be incredibly clear of noise, vehicles, and pollution. This is an attempt for the government to control the level of air, and sound pollution in the city, and is effective on every last week of the month.

Look at that, the better Jakarta.
