Ada Apa Dengan PLN?
What is up with PLN (Indonesian government-owned corporation which runs the country Electricity)?
After running a series of periodic blackouts along the islands of Java, and Bali, due to the delay of coal shipment, PLN has announced its going to run a new system of incentives, and disincentives.
Here is how the system will supposedly work:
According to SCTV, when a consumer goes beyond the usual daily quota (which I have yet to know) there will be an increase of price rolled into their bill, starting from March, this program is named the discincentives program.
Citizens who use 20 percent below the average daily quota, will have their tariffs subsidized, thus reduced bill, according to their rewarding incentives program.
This is rumored to be one of their strategic plans to raise electricity tariffs.
So, when we use a lot, we pay more than a lot. When we use a little, we get less than a little.
Let’s see how the program works among Indonesians.
