Malaysia’s Zainuddin Maidin: Malaysia and Indonesia Need to Unite
I wrote a post about the relationship between Indonesia, and Malaysia.
What caused the two neighbors’ relationship to be strained, and how it has turned out.
The virtual war between the two countries have somehow slowed down, but it hasn’t been settled. Many inflammatory remarks are still being thrown at each other.
People call this an act of patriotism. Defending your country, no matter what.
I call this Blind Patriotism.
Malaysia might have ‘claimed’ many of Indonesia’s arts, and cultural heritage, but again, it was Indonesia’s responsibility to register those cultural rights in the first place, and protect our intellectual arts.
After many were ‘claimed’, then Indonesia started registering many of its creative products. (Lesson learnt)
Malaysia, on the other hand, knew there were loopholes in the system, that allowed them to claim these arts, and heritages.
Unethical, but again, it’s UMNO. Should we be surprised?
Liputan6 reports that, Zainuddin Maidin (Malaysia’s Information Minister) also blamed the mass media for the cracking relationship of the two countries.
I agree with his statement (surprisingly), that Mass Media tend to exaggerate the truth that is out there. Provoking people, and creating unnecessary conflicts.
Zainuddin also encouraged both Malaysians, and Indonesians to maintain, and improve the harmony of the two countries.
Finally, that guy starts making sense.
