2008: The Great Change and The Never Changing
It has been a crazy weekend.
I thought New Year’s Eve was going to be fun, but it turned out to be just the opposite.
Rain was pouring intensely, and the police were raiding every possible bar that was out there. Everywhere my friends, and I went, there would be police at the scene.
Anyway, I have been wanting to blog my posts, but I have been catching up with many of my friends, and especially my girlfriend.
I finally had the chance to get my hands dirty on my keyboard.
I logged onto my favorite news channels, and found many interesting things that have happened in early 2008.
#1. Malaysian Minister Sex Tape on DVD

Malaysia Porn Minister: Chua Soi Lek.
“Oooooooooooohhh”
One that topped my chart is the Sex Tape of a Malaysian Minister.
Malaysian news have grown very interesting in recent months, due to their roller coasting political, racial, and religious tension. And now, with an interesting addition of a sex scandal.
Indonesia had a similar incident, when a member of one of the Political Parties, Golkar (Golongan Karya), was recorded having sex with an Indonesian artist. Though it did spark national headlines, it wasn’t really a big deal for most Indonesians who are mostly open minded to sex. What’s interesting was the fact that the sex video was ultimately famous for the man’s humble asset.
Back to Malaysia.
Chua Soi Lek, Malaysia’s Health Minister admitted that he was indeed the man in the sex tape that was apparently recorded by CCTV. He also hinted that it was his opposition rivals’ doing.
Chua is the vice-president of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a key component of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO)-led government coalition. This incident has embarrassed Ahmad Badawi’s ruling Government.
I read in Channel News Asia that Chua has apologized to Prime Minister, Ahmad Badawi, and that he would not resign from his title just because of this incident. He also has apologized publicly to his wife, and his three children. His family has also made it public that they would stand by him.
On that note, many parties (especially religious, and women) have pleaded that Chua to be stripped off his title, saying that it is only logical to do so.
Angkatan Muda Keadilan Malaysia (AMK) coined the term “Menteri Lucah” (Porn Minister) for the Health Minister.
Look on the bright side Malaysians, at least your Health Minister is a Healthy Minister. Active in healthy sexual activity, with a mutual sex buddy. Yes, he cheated on his wife, but sometimes a little sexventure is crucial in keeping the marriage interesting.
He resigned from his post.
He should not have done it. Like what he said, he would not be the first, and the last politician to be doing such an act.
#2. Indonesia Welcomed German Couple to be The First Visitors of the Visit Indonesia Year 2008.
The other news that interest me was that Indonesia welcomed the very first foreign tourists for the Visit Indonesia Year 2008.
A German couple who arrived at the Soekarno Hatta International Airport were greeted by airport staff members, and a Sundanese Jaipongan dacne troupe upon arriving on New Year’s Day
They were presented with flowers, and wreaths. When interviewed, Michel and Jennifer Franchon Bernard were surprised, and “very
happy”.
This is the first time ever Indonesia has made great efforts to repair its International Image that has often been bombarded by foreign news channels to be filled with natural disasters, and safety issues.
#3. The Next “Hot” Heir: Bilawal Bhutto

Uh huh. I’m hot
(picture from Wikipedia)
Bhutto has been the hottest word online pre-new year, and post-new year.
From the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the blame of Pervez Musharraf, and the Al Qaeda, and now taking over the buzz, is Bhutto’s “Hot” son.
Bilawal Bhutto, the heir to the late Benazir Bhutto has been showered with political spotlight around the world. And also, in Facebook.
Quoted from Channel News Asia report:
“Oh My God he’s cute,” said one contributor to “Let’s not assassinate Bilawal Bhutto because he’s hot, ok?,” a new group on the social networking site after the 19-year-old was named last week to succeed his mother as leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).“Oh God, I totally agree. He’s so sexy,” added another member of the group, which so far had 48 members.
The Oxford undergraduate, who attended his mother Benazir Bhutto’s funeral last Friday, reveals a few things about himself on his own Facebook site, describing his political views as “liberal”.
This news made me laugh.
It seems like 2008 is going to be a hot year for the new Hot Bhutto.
2008. That’s Hot.
